an Australopithecus Sediba skeleton.

9 year old Mathew Berger held up the fossil he had found to his father.”Dad I found a fossil”,he said .On hearing that Lee Berger thought his son might have found a bone of an antelope a common find in Africa but , when the paleoanthropologist  looked at it he found somthing much more important a hominid collar bone. An australopithecus sediba collar bone to be exact.

A 2 million year old collar bone of an  Australopithecus Sediba ( sediba means “wellspring”) is a truly remarkable find. It had arms  like an orangutan and legs like a human with moderately primitive feet on the bottom. The most interesting thing (I think) is it has a mix of primitive features from the australopithecus genus and advance features of later humans.
